Ground Time

Aircraft don't spend all their time in the air. This zine is about the time they spend in a hangar, being taken apart and put back together. Paulo Lopez explored the inside of a working maintenance hangar at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, photographing rivets, panel lines, and the exposed geometry of a plane with its skin off. Twenty color images, no captions, moving from wide shots of the space down into abstraction.
